The 2020 Great Lakes cruise season has been officially postponed until 2021, due largely to preventative measures taken by both American and Canadian ports restricting cruise ship docking to halt the spread of COVID-19.
Victory Cruises announced at the end of May it would be canceling its 2020 itinerary. Other cruise lines followed. While these small capacity cruise lines are allowed to sail, as they carry under 250 passengers, many are of waterways, and ports are completely off-limits to all, including the Erie Canal.
For now, the Great Lakes cruising industry is focused on reorganizing for 2021.
