Galapagos, for me, is far more than geography; it is deeply personal. From my father’s pioneering expedition there in 1967 (shown holding my sister Cristina) to now, my kids are the third generation to be mesmerized by this magnificent place. My son Eric was enthralled by Lucho, one of our naturalists. My daughter Isabella was totally captivated by sea lions and also had her first snorkel in Galapagos, which she celebrated with glee, and both Isabella and my other daughter, Delfina, look pretty tiny next to giant tortoises.
I love this place for the joy and wonder it has given to so many people, including those closest to me. I so hope that Galapagos will be protected forever, so that many future generations will have the remarkable opportunities that we have been privileged to have.
