Paul Gauguin Arrives in Dry Dock for Major Refurbishment

The Paul Gauguin has recently arrived in Singapore for a major multi-million-dollar refurbishment. As one of the most significant upgrades in 2025, the 1997-built vessel is set for a seven-week drydock that will include enhancements to both public spaces and guest cabins.

Sustainability is a key focus of the refit, with the ship receiving several green technologies to boost efficiency and reduce its environmental footprint. Upgrades include advanced heat recovery systems, efficient chillers, an Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) system that generates electricity from heat, and optimized electric motors that will drastically cut energy consumption.

A new seawater treatment system will produce fresh water onboard, while improved waste management features like a glass crusher and cardboard compactor will streamline recycling efforts.

The pool deck is getting a major makeover, with a new white canopy for cabana-style seating on the ship’s port side. The space will also boast updated furniture, a refreshed bar, and a new mosaic design surrounding the pool.

Le Grill, located next to the pool deck, will receive a complete redesign, featuring a sleek white color scheme, wood screens, ceramic tiles, and decorative trim framing its culinary stations.

Additionally, the 320-guest ship will introduce eight new connecting staterooms and refresh the soft furnishings throughout its public spaces.

In honor of its parent company, Ponant Explorations, the Paul Gauguin will also unveil a new livery. The updated design will include modern gray accents on its sleek white hull and a major change to the funnel, now featuring Ponant’s iconic three-sail logo. The cruise line’s signature scripted “P” logo will be prominently displayed on Deck 8 forward.

Once the project is completed, the Paul Gauguin is expected to resume service in early April, starting with a repositioning voyage to the South Pacific.
