Decided for our 25th wedding anniversary to take a cruise. We were recommended to Linda by a couple of our friends who have booked with her, and now we see why. We originally had our eye on 2 separate east coast cruises, and she was able to recommend a trip that married those two itineraries with the best from each trip!
Grand New England trip aboard the American Constitution. Seeing as this was a special occasion, my husband and I decided to splurge on an Owners Suite, cabin 502. There are actually eight Owners Suites on this ship, I thought there was only one each ship. We had a balcony and a large cabin on the top deck, which gave us wonderful views.
Boston the first night and took a tour of the city the next day before being transferred to the ship. The crew was welcoming and helpful as my husband isn’t the best walker. They were able to help us to our cabin which was definitely a plus. Our steward pointed out all the things we needed to know in our cabin. After walking around the ship, before we knew it we were sailing away.
Camden, Maine, a quaint and beautiful town/village, with incredible seafood and lobster. We ate lunch off the ship here. Being our anniversary we kind of decided a head of time not to take shore excursions but just walk around the ports together. Spent the money on the cabin instead.
Bar Harbor, was very similar with lots of shopping and eating. I’m a huge shopper and he is a food enthusiast so we had a lot of fun very slowly walking around.
Rockland had the most AMAZING lobster rolls I have ever tasted. Again, small and quaint, but I was absolutely perfect for a nice easy walk through the city, while shopping and taking in the views.
Boothbay Harbor and Portland very nice with their beautiful botanical gardens, and their boutique shops and galleries. I probably should have brought another suitcase to take home all the incredible finds that we found in the boutique shops in these two ports.
Newport, we took the tour of the Avenue of Mansions. It was fascinating to hear their history and see these monstrous homes in all their glory. I feel like these are the places that you only read about in history books.
Martha’s Vineyard and Provincetown, my favorites. I loved visiting the lighthouses “on the Vinyard” as they say. Took little trolley tour in Provincetown. The history and the quaintness just takes you back to easier times.
The next day we were getting off the ship and were definitely not ready to go home. Linda chose the best trip for us and we could not have been happier with everything there was to do from a day to day basis.
At the end of the cruise, American Cruise Lines offers a good discount if you sign up for another cruise before you get off the ship on this cruise. We did not but many did.
