Cruise Review: American Queen – Memphis to New Orleans Cruise – December 2018

Special Christmas sailing.

We loved American Queen Steamboat Company (AQSC) and had a very nice cruise. Our previous cruise was on Princess and the difference between the companies is stark. Contract crew on Princess were just nowhere near as accommodating as the AQSC crew.

Our cabin was nicely appointed and attendant was beyond great. The ship was beautiful and totally decorated for the holiday. The crystal is really crystal, the china really china, historical pieces and books throughout the ship. Nothing to resemble old as in plastic. Everything was the real thing.

Each port was an original experience. We enjoyed our overnight in Memphis provided by the cruise line. Luggage was well handled for us. We tried a number of the jazz clubs, most being to noisy for us. We finally found one that one that fit us a little better, and we enjoyed our time there. Sorry, do not remember the name. . Some great fried chicken at Guy’s and the very best ribs I have ever had but can’t recall the name of the restaurant.

The stops we made were great and I especially liked the cooking class at Regina Charboneaux’s home, highly recommend your clients sign up for that option. The hop on hop off bus works great for the ports we stopped at. We had heavy rain in one of our ports, Natchez I think.

We really enjoyed our stay in New Orleans We did take the AQSC New Orleans bus tour. I would favorable consider AQSC for another cruise and would even consider doing this cruise again. Thank you for introducing us to AQSC.
