There were six of us on the Columbia Snake River sailing. We each had different reasons for choosing this itinerary. We were interested in the history of Lewis and Clark. We were thrilled by the knowledge of Ron, one of the Naturalists. He really knew his stuff. We are history buffs, so if he impressed us, he was top notch.
Two went for the relaxation and would have been happy for seven days sailing anywhere. This trip exceeded their expectations, so they said. By the mixture of downtime that they took and the classy casualness of the whole operation.
Two others are cruise junkies and have been most everywhere. They are the ones who came up with the idea. With their experience of big, small, sailing, barges, and everything in between, they were also impressed by the operation.
We all felt the crew was professional, educated, and were trained for making us all happy. The itinerary was wonderful being roundtrip Portland. Made it easy for fights. We did not feel we covered things we had already seen. Seems the Captain was able to mix up the itinerary with day and night destinations. Food was superb, better than our expectations when we saw the size of the galley.
And to top it off, the weather was great, not a drop of rain. Sad that the S.S. Legacy is moving back to Alaska. It fits so well the profile of the old riverboats on the CSR rivers.
Thanks, Sunstone for leading us in the right direction. All your information was right on. Rose Hotel, Glass House…all worked without a hitch.
