Linda and Sunstone Tours staff, you are the best, You know your stuff and you put us on the perfect experience for our fist Alaska adventure.
We started in Juneau, Whales, Wildlife & Glaciers, and spent the night in the Four Points Sheraton across from the cruise dock. Can’t get better than that. Juneau was a busy place with thousands of big cruise passengers. We hate to be snotty, but we are…they did not see 1/2 of what we saw on our small ship.
We sailed out late afternoon and good buy Juneau and hello open seas and sunsets and beautiful still flat blue water. HAHA until we sat down to dinner at least. No more still and flat but full of whales. Dinner waited we were all out on the deck. I thought the ship might fall over. EVERYONE including the crew and chefs were out watching the display of whales. WOW…first night..can’t get better than that. But it did, every day exceeded the prior.
Haines was a treat after Juneau. How two towns can be so different. Haines, calm, quiet, scenery, bald eagles, no big ships. And that is how it continued, we were alone with the universe most of the time. Glacier Bay a Park Ranger came on the ship. We had lunch with him at our table, what a unique life, a few months Alaska and then moves to other destinations that need a Park Ranger., We hiked, kayaked, we jumped into the freezing water. We did not try to paddleboard, the thought of falling in over and over was not for us.
The Safari Endeavour was a lovely boat. It was mostly full but it didn’t feel that way. Plenty of public space. The dining room was lovely for meals, sit down, and buffet. First few days we met all sorts of people at the meals. So many like-minded in age and cruise experience, We met some of your other clients on the ship. Lovely people. Great options of all sorts for every meal. Amazing what they turn out from the tiny galley.
The adventure was over way too soon as we sailed into Sitka. We could have turned around with the boat and did it all again. This so exceeded our expectations. Our neighbors went on a Princess ship and when we discussed it upon our return home, it was like, they talked about their experiences on the ship, and then oh yes, we did this and this off the ship. It was like they didn’t see anything, but they think they did.
So Linda and Sunstone, we thank you again. We didn’t put down a deposit for another sailing, even though they offer a great deal. Our daughter is just barely pregnant with twins, and who knows when we will be taking our next vacation.
