Cruise Review: Safari Explorer – Hawaiian Seascapes – March 2016

Safari Explorer approaching a whaleOur home away from home for a week in the glorious islands of Hawaii will soon be sailing in Alaska. And we couldn’t be more excited to be booked and sailing on her again. (Lots of return passenger perks). From the warm water to the cold. Look forward to seeing how many of the same crew is on the ship.

So … our glorious adventure in Hawaii. We started on the Big Island, we came in two days early to explore Kona. Once on the ship we went down south some to Cook Bay for exploration, then back up to Kona and onto the Kohala Coast.

We were a group of 36 very cohesive travelers. My husband and I knew no one and now we feel we have a group of friends all over the country to visit someday.

A week of no cell phone, no calls from the kids, no smog, no sirens, no city life. It was rude coming home I will say that.

Flight from LAX into Kona and then a week of sunning, kayaking, paddleboarding. Laying in the water buoyed by my life vest. Sailing into ports as has been done for hundreds of years. Learning of history and culture of each island. Exploring nooks and crannies of Lana’i and Moloka’i (bragging rights on these spots). One week of pure heaven. Un-Cruise employees love their jobs and bend over backward to make everything perfect. Can Alaska live up to our expectations?
