Kayaking with Wilderness Discoverer

Cruise Review: Wilderness Discoverer – Northern Passages and Glacier Bay – August 2017

The rain pants are clean!

We had a fabulous time on the Wilderness Discoverer. The trip exceeded all expectations. We appreciated your recommendation of UNcruise over Alaskan Dreams, as well as the boat and cabin choices. We wanted the more active line; we’re able to kayak and hike every day except the last day in the glaciers, spent on the kayaks and the boat.

Our all-female expedition team was top-notch, as was all the service onboard. Strong seas lead the captain to change the itinerary, but we knew that was a possibility. We were kept in calm waters. I had no seasickness problem.

You might not need to tell your clients that we were kayaking in a cove when orcas joined us. That did scare the crew, but we were fine. Now who would not be willing to give up a full-size bathroom or bedroom when you can kayak into a glacier or paddle among sea lions?

The fellow travelers were of all ages (8-90) and all happily participated in the daily activities.

The food was just great. The staff handled my small food sensitivity with care.

Without your recommendation, we might not have chosen just the right cruise line for our interests. I am happy to pass on your name to fellow adventurous travelers, or those just seeking a small ship experience. As we traveled independently, I mentioned UNcruise to many fellow tourists/ hikers. Many were not aware of this great alternative way to experiment with the inside passages.
