Skiff Leaves Wilderness Discoverer

Cruise Review: Wilderness Discoverer – Northern Passages & Glacier Bay – June 2018

We had a great time. The weather cooperated, I think it drizzled one morning or afternoon and that was it the whole cruise. Even the crew couldn’t believe it. Saw lots of humpback whales, virtually every day. Saw one breaching one afternoon and also saw a pod doing a bubble net. Orcas up in Glacier Bay, sea lions, seals, sea otters, puffins, mountain goats, a black bear, and a couple of brown bears from a distance on the shore. And of course, lots and lots of bald eagles. Our extra day in Sitka and an extra day in Juneau was a nice addition.

The crew was also great. The captain would turn the ship and head towards the wildlife we saw while cruising to a different location. Very accommodating. Food was outstanding as well as the crew that fed us, set up for meals, cleaned the cabins, etc. The guides were very knowledgeable in many areas, mammals, birds, sea life, geography, and skilled at the activities we had every morning and afternoon, kayaking, skiff tours, bushwhacking, beach walks, and so on.

We had an exceptional experience and would recommend (and have already) YOU at Sunstone Tours and UnCruise to anyone. Thanks for all your help and information you provided for Sitka and Juneau.
