Exploration, access, and comfort all share equal importance on the 74-passenger Wilderness Explorer. Adventure-ready with casual ambiance—the onboard amenities and equipment on this expedition vessel put the focus on action, adventure, and relaxation.
Daring and ambitious, and a wee bit salty. The Wilderness Explorer was destined for Alaska’s deep waters from the first moment she slid into the drink. A strong “sea boat” with feet, she is not bashful or apologetic in her unflinching drive to seek out secret niches. Embracing change, the crew is known to try the untried, whether it’s gaining access to an unexplored trail or a new recipe with locally foraged ingredients. Bold with a capital Brrr, she is also our only ship to have over-wintered in Southeast Alaska, for not one, but two wicked cold seasons. Get to know her, and she’ll warm your heart.
Wilderness Explorer Details
There are 37 cabins across 5 categories, including Single. Cabins are small and intimate.
Cabins are equipped with flat-screen TV/DVD players and there’s a collection of DVDs available onboard for you to borrow from in the main lounge. While television channels are unavailable due to the remote areas we visit, the bow cam will broadcast over one of the channels. Daily updates, menus, and schedules can also be viewed on TV.
Each cabin offers a hairdryer, conditioning shampoo, and body wash. Aboard some of our end ships, bathrobes are also provided. Wilderness Explorer also has an iron onboard, but remember, dress is casual so no need to be perfectly pressed.
Cabins have limited storage space underneath the bed and in the cabinet. Our recommendation: soft-sided, expandable luggage or duffles—the more they squish, the more room you’ll have. While there is no limit, storage space is limited and whatever you bring needs to be stowed in your cabin. Try to limit your bags to two soft-sided bags per cabin.
All electrical outlets are standard 110 Volt, the same voltage as in North America.
