Small ship in an Alaskan port

Small Ships the Only Way to Experience Alaska in 2021

Canada has dealt a significant blow to the 2021 Alaska cruise season by extending its cruise ban in response to preventing the spread of the coronavirus. The ban, which was instituted in March 2020, now remains in place through February 2022, effectively canceling the summer Alaska cruise season.

The ban applies to all cruise ships carrying more than 250 people, which impacts the majority of the mainstream, mega-liners. However, this ban excludes ships with smaller capacity. Therefore, American-flagged cruise lines such as Alaskan Dream Cruises, American Cruise Lines, Lindblad Expeditions*, and UnCruise Adventures will be sailing Alaskan waters in 2021.
